Frequently Asked Questions
Where are you located?
Compassion Speech-Language Pathology provides speech and language therapy services in Amherst and Hadley, Massachusetts. We do not have a physical location at this time, which means we come to you!
Consultations are completed via phone, and most evaluation and treatment sessions are completed in-person, within the comfort and convenience of your own home!
Teletherapy and alternative locations can be arranged depending on your needs and therapist's recommendations.
Do you accept health insurance?
At this time, Compassion Speech-Language Pathology is private pay only. Upon request, we will provide you with a superbill, which you can submit to your insurance for reimbursement, depending on your health insurance plan. Contact your health insurance provider to see what coverage they provide for out-of-network speech therapy services.
Submitting to insurance requires valuable time and funding that we would rather put back into providing quality care for you and your child. We believe that our services are worth it, and that you are worthy of expertly curated and truly individualized care.
What forms of payment do you accept?
We accept the following forms of payment:
Cash
Check/Cashier's Check
Major Credit Cards
HSA/FSA Cards
How long does therapy take?
The length of sessions can range from 30-60 minutes and 1-3 times per week, depending on the needs of the child as determined in the evaluation process.
It can be difficult to predict how long a child will require speech/language therapy interventions. Many factors contribute to this:
The nature, number, and severity of speech and language concerns,
The strength of the relationship between the therapist and the child,
The implementation of speech and language strategies outside of therapy,
The personality and temperament of the child, etc.
At Compassion Speech-Language Pathology, we believe in transparency and open communication with our clients and their caregivers. We want you to feel informed on your child's progress, whether it is your first session or second-to-last. That is why we build time into our sessions for touching base with caregivers. In addition, it is standard practice for us to write a progress report and re-visit your child's goals if they continue to have concerns after receiving therapy for 6 months.
